Offroad Laos Luang PraBang to Muang Hima 10 days

Our journey will commence by leaving Luang Prabang and traveling towards the west via steep mountain roads. You will witness breathtaking views of stunning scenery along the way.

On the second day of our adventure, we will journey towards Long Tieng. As we traverse the misty mountains, we will discover some of the most intriguing trails that wind through the ancient peaks. Along the way, we will pass through areas that hold the memories of past wars and witness the remnants of battles fought long ago. We will take in everything that surrounds us with wonder and amazement and continue our journey toward Long Tieng by traversing this trail section steeped in history and natural beauty.

Visit the former residence of Vang Pao, a prominent leader who played a significant role in the country's history. We will leave Long Tieng and go to Phonsavan. We will pass through some beautiful countryside and more Lima sites on the route; this was the main route into this area. During the war, we’ll visit the Plain of Jars and the 1000-step mountain views of Xiang Khoung.

Xam Neua, a charming town in the northeastern Laos region, serves as the district capital of Xam Neua district and the provincial capital of Huaphanh province. Despite its rich culture and history, Xam Neua remains an off-the-beaten-path destination for most Western tourists.

This hidden gem abounds with captivating landmarks such as the Suan Keo Lak Meung Monument, a symbol of the region's independence struggle, the stunning Wat Phoxaysanalam temple, and the vibrant Sam Neua Market, where visitors can indulge in local delicacies and immerse themselves in the local way of life.

Due to its remoteness, the small town of Muang Hiam is often overlooked by tourists. Visited chiefly by bikers on the North East Loop and those visiting Nam Et Phou Louey National Park, there is a small amount of tourism infrastructure. However, with a bit of exploring, this town reveals itself to be a hidden gem in the remotes of the north. The town is built mostly along the bank of the Nam Khan River, which eventually flows down to Luang Prabang and into the Mekong. Here, it is a small trickle of what it becomes as it flows south, but it makes for a more relaxing swim in the right spot. There are a few restaurants overlooking the river. One of the better options is the small River View restaurant, just next to the bridge on the western side. Here, there is a good choice of Lao food, especially the sin dad (Lao BBQ) and even French fries, as well as the only French press coffee in town. Join in a local game of petanque, or watch the river go by while sipping a cold Beer Lao.

Luang Prabang is a city in north-central Laos on the east bank of the Mekong River. It is situated on a peninsula where the Nam Khan and Mekong Rivers meet. It is known as the ancient capital of Laos and is renowned for its numerous Buddhist temples and monasteries. In 1995, UNESCO declared it a World Cultural Heritage Site.
