Nho Que River

In Meo Vac district, the Nho Que River stands out as a symbol. It peacefully flows at the base of the rugged cat-ear mountains of the Ha Giang rocky plateau. It creates a serene boundary between the cliffs, forming a blue line between Ma Pi Leng Pass and Sam Pun Road. While visiting Meo Vac, taking in the beauty of the Nho Que River is a must-do activity.

If you love nature and adventure, you’ll want to explore this stunning river in the Ha Giang rocky plateau at least once. From my travels to Meo Vac – Ha Giang, I’ve found that the best time to visit is in early November. That’s when the water turns crystal clear, resembling a Tuyet Tinh Coc of the North. When you’re in Meo Vac, don’t miss the chance to experience the beauty of this river.

Ma Pi Leng Pass

Besides the famous Nho Que River, Ma Pi Leng Pass is also one of the top four most beautiful passes in the North. This rugged, risky road sits at 1200 meters above sea level and spans about 20 kilometers. It took six years to build (from 1959 to 1965) with the help of tens of thousands of young volunteers from 16 ethnic groups in 8 northern provinces of Vietnam, totaling over 2 million working days. When you visit Ma Pi Leng Pass, you’ll get the chance to conquer its nine bends hugging towering cliffs or marvel at its majestic and captivating natural mountain scenery. While you’re in Meo Vac, exploring the Ma Pi Leng Pass Motorbike Tour is definitely worth it.

At the pass’s peak, there’s a spot where you can soak in the scenery – a panoramic view of the Dong Van stone plateau or the Nho Que River. From my travels to Meo Vac – Ha Giang, I’ve found that the cliff nestled amid the pass is a popular spot for young adventurers to capture memories!

Tu San Canyon

Tu San Alley sits at the base of Ma Pi Leng, right by the Nho Que river. The close proximity of the two ravines, coupled with the river’s green hue, creates a majestic and poetic scene. To get to Tu San Canyon, visitors need to hop on a boat or canoe for about 20 minutes from the upstream wharf of Nho Que.

Years ago, before the hydroelectric dam was built on the Nho Que River, very few people could get close to the foot of the steep canyon. They could only admire this grand sight from the Ma Pi Leng road bends. But after the hydroelectric power dam was constructed, the Nho Que River calmed down, allowing boats to take tourists right to the foot of the cliff.
